Guía de práctica clínica. Enfermedad vascular cerebral isquémica

Resumen


La enfermedad vascular cerebral es considerada un problema de implicaciones sociales, económicas y de salud pública en la población adulta y adultos mayores. El aumento de la esperanza de vida es uno de los grandes logros de la humanidad, no obstante es también un gran desafío por las implicaciones en relación con el aumento de enfermedades crónicas, que si no se controlan llevarán a complicaciones como la enfermedad vascular cerebral, la cual representa en el mundo la primera causa de discapacidad en población adulta y la segunda causa de demencia. En países en desarrollo, como el nuestro, se estima que los costos de atención por la enfermedad vascular cerebral son de 6000 a 8000 euros, además de los costos sociales como los cuidados informales y alteraciones de la dinámica familiar en torno a los pacientes. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de esta guía de práctica clínica es definir las recomendaciones basadas en la mejor evidencia disponible para la estandarización de las acciones sobre la atención del paciente con enfermedad vascular cerebral.
