Nuevo rumbo en macrófagos, inflamación y tejido adiposo

Resumen


La obesidad se considera un estado inflamatorio de bajo grado. Un número creciente de reportes sugiere que el tejido adiposo por sí mismo puede ser una fuente de factores proinflamatorios y un blanco de los procesos inflamatorios. Las evidencias acumuladas sugieren la participación de proteínas derivadas del tejido adiposo, llamadas adipocinas, así como otros factores producidos en este tejido por los adipocitos y otras células como fibroblastos, linfocitos y macrófagos. La repercusión de la obesidad en la salud se extiende a través de múltiples órganos y enfermedades (aterosclerosis, enfermedades cardiovasculares, osteoartritis, diabetes, hipertensión y dislipidemia). La alta incidencia y su condición inflamatoria crónica han tenido gran impacto. La naturaleza crónica de la obesidad produce una activación sostenida de bajo grado del sistema inmune innato que afecta el estado de homeostasis metabólica todo el tiempo. En esta revisión destacamos la participación del macrófago en la generación de la inflamación inducida por la obesidad.
