Resumen
La pandemia producida por el virus SARS‑CoV‑2 ha desencadenado una carrera científica en donde se busca encontrar medicamentos para el tratamiento y profilaxis de pacientes con COVID-19. Existen en la literatura múltiples estudios en donde se ha demostrado que la cloroquina e hidroxicloroquina inhiben la replicación in vitro del virus. Sin embargo hasta la fecha la gran mayoría de la información in vivo que se ha publicado proviene de estudios observacionales, algunos de estos con notables erratas en su metodología. Por lo tanto es necesario realizar conclusiones basadas en el conjunto de resultados que arrojen los ensayos clínicos aleatorizados que se están realizando en la actualidad.
Abstract
Due to the current pandemic produced by the SARS-CoV-2, there has been a scientific race in order to find an appropriate treatment and prophylaxis for patients with COVID-19. Multiple studies in the literature have shown that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine inhibits the virus in vitro. However the majority of the in vivo data comes from observational studies, some of these with severe flaws in their study design. It’s important to make conclusions based on the results of the randomized controlled trials that are underway.
