Abstract

The history of medicine, ethics and the medical anthropology have little space in medical journals and the papers resulting from investigations in these fields are published in highly specialized journals. This number  presents significant papers like mycetoma in the Prehispanic Era in Mexico, which described a case of mycetoma found in the Tlatilco skeletal collection. The second is a study about “empacho” as a nosological entity during the XIX Century in Mexico. Tlaloc and ascitis is another relevant paper related to the study of plastic representation of water in the body and ascitis, a common pathological sign. The icon diagnosis strategy was used. These papers are examples of diversity in medical practice and plurality of thinking.
