Author Guidelines

Editorial Policy on Submission, Review, and Publication Rights

The Revista Médica del IMSS publishes only original, unpublished articles in Spanish or English. Upon receipt through the journal's submission portal, each manuscript is assigned a registration number and reviewed to ensure compliance with the author guidelines, inclusion of all required documents (conflict of interest statement, authorship acknowledgment, and copyright transfer), and relevance to the advancement of knowledge in the health sciences. Only manuscripts that meet these criteria proceed to the peer review stage.

Once a manuscript has been registered in the journal's editorial system, it is ethically unacceptable to submit it to another publication, whether print or electronic. Likewise, requests to change the order of authorship or to add or remove authors are not permitted, as established in the Authorship Acknowledgment form and the cover page of the manuscript.

If an author decides to withdraw a manuscript, a formal written notice must be submitted to the editor and sent to: revista.medica@imss.gob.mx.

The content, opinions, and citations included in the articles are the sole responsibility of the authors. Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the results of their work by submitting a Conflict of Interest Statement. Any sponsorships or funding received must be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.

Once an article is accepted for publication, authors transfer the economic rights of the work to the Revista Médica del IMSS, while retaining moral rights over its content. Therefore, total or partial reproduction of any article in any dissemination medium, whether print or electronic, requires prior authorization from the editor.
