Abstract
In response to the alarming and growing prevalence of overweight and obesity among Mexican children, as confirmed by the National Health and Nutrition Survey, and following an initiative from clinical, epidemiological, basic, and health services research groups in northern Mexico, the Health Research Coordination (CIS) established the Childhood Obesity Research Network of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). The aim of this network is to generate knowledge through scientific research to address this pressing public health issue.
