Abstract
I read the article “The Undervaluation of Dermatology Based on Ignorance and Its Impact on Patient Health” by Fuentes and Domínguez¹, and found it to reflect the perspective of a well-regarded and experienced dermatologist. However, the references cited in the article are not directly related to the main purpose of the publication, but rather to advances in the specialty. Although the fourth case—purpura that was operated on under suspicion of appendicitis—is based on an initial diagnostic error, I must note that this is not an unusual situation; it is something that occurs frequently in such cases and in other hematological conditions. As for the first three cases, it is unclear whether they were indeed diagnostic errors or merely presented as hypothetical examples of what could happen.
