El sistema renina-angiotensina-aldosterona y sus inhibidores en el contexto de la pandemia por COVID-19

Resumen

Una de las confusiones que ha generado la pandemia de COVID-19 es la idea de que los inhibidores de la enzima convertidora de la angiotensina y los antagonistas del receptor de la angiotensina II de tipo 1 pueden agravar el daño pulmonar inducido por el SARS-CoV-2 en pacientes de edad avanzada. En este breve comunicado se analiza, desde una perspectiva crítica, la evidencia científica que secunda esta asociación.
